Artist Brenna Eaton

Looking for an intricate dot-work tattoo or an ornamental piece with lots of botanical elements? Meet your new favorite artist. Brenna perfected the dotwork style practicing hand-poked tattoos on herself and her friends when she was first exploring becoming a tattoo artist. She’s since expanded her skill-set to include decoratively patterned tattoos, intricate symmetrical pieces, and Henna-style sleeves.

Brenna comes from a family of artists. It shows in her work, and it will show on you. If you’re looking for a photo-realistic tattoo or something with lots of colors, Brenna might not be your artist; but if you’re looking for dots, flowers or geometric tattoos, you’ll love Brenna.

Getting your first tattoo? Much.Excite! Brenna has some tips for you:

  1. Do your research and find an artist who specializes in the style you want
  2. Give the artist some freedom to let them figure out the design
  3. Make sure you’re hydrated and have something to eat before getting tattooed

Get to Know Brenna:

What made you want to be a tattoo artist?

I was always artistic, and I’ve loved tattoos since I was 3 years old. I used to ask my dad for tattoos for Christmas when I was growing up. Then when I turned 18, I decided I wanted to be a tattoo artist.

What’s your background?

I didn’t have any background in tattooing when I started, but I came from a family of artists. I taught myself and started by practicing on myself and close friends.

What styles do you specialize in or prefer to work on?

I specialize in black and grey, dotwork and ornamental tattoos. I really enjoy symmetry and floral designs.

What are your #tattoogoals?

My goals are to do bigger pieces, back pieces, and sleeves. I love working on designs that have lots of dot work incorporated into them, and I would love to do more ornamental sleeves with floral tattoo subjects incorporated.

Are there any requests that you turn down?

I don’t do cover-ups unless it’s very small or very light, to begin with. I don’t do realism style or very much color work.

How do you work with your clients?

I work with my clients in a very professional and respectful manner. I don’t judge anyone who walks through the door—no one at Diego Tattoo does. Everyone is equal.

Who is your ideal client?

My ideal client would be someone who is willing to give me freedom with the design. I work best with an empty canvas.

Do you have advice for first timers?

My advice for the first timer would be to first, do research and make sure you choose a tattoo artist who specializes in the style you’re going for. Give the artist an idea of what you want and where you want it and then let them figure out the design. Don’t try to incorporate too many ideas into one design, at least not at first. Make sure you are financially prepared. And most importantly, eat before getting tattooed!

What makes Diego Tattoo Studio the best tattoo shop in San Diego?

Diego Tattoo is the best shop because we appreciate our clients and try to give the best tattoo experience we can give. All of our artists are awesome and very talented!
